Onesiphorus was a great friend of Paul. He was a Christian from Ephesus who ministered to Paul while Paul was in Ephesus. He also ministered to Paul during his imprisonment in Rome (2 Timothy 1:16-18; 4:18 and 2 Timothy 1:17). Onesiphorus means "profitable."
